In 2017, a series of community meetings were sponsored by the Forgotton Coast Cultural Coalition (FCCC) to gage the interest and support from the local community to create a community art center in Port St. Joe. The enthusiastic response continued through numerous meetings resulting in a name for the organization, and creating our purpose, vision, mission statements, and by-laws. A slate of officers and board members were elected and The Joe was off to a great start. The Joe Center for the Arts received its Articles of Incorporation in May of 2018 and its 501(c)(3) status in April of 2019.
The Joe Center for the Arts is staffed entirely by volunteers and funded through memberships, sales of artwork, and the generosity of local businesses, residents, and visitors to our area.
THE JOE Center for the Arts is a membership-driven non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
We are a community art center, dedicated to providing opportunities for artists and art lovers along the Forgotten Coast. We would love to have you become involved and there are many ways you can do so:
Proceeds from fund raising events, such as donations, grants, sponsorships, sales of original art or arts related products, books and merchandise, instructional fees and/or ticket sales to arts or cultural events will be used to rent/buy, maintain and staff the facility, produce and maintain exhibits, provide programs and subsidize children’s arts instruction.
All events must support The Joe’s mission to educate, exhibit, partner and inspire through the Arts.
The Joe Center for the Arts is located in historic downtown Port St. Joe, Florida. We are one of the small towns located on the Gulf of Mexico and called the Forgotten Coast because we are dedicated to maintaining the look and feel look of old Florida.
