Shibori Tie Dye - Simple Tie Dye Techniques

In this class, students will learn about the use of clamps, clothes pins, rubber bands, and synthetic sinew in tie dye, as well as folding techniques.   There will be a discussion of the low immersion method and chemicals used.  Each student will be given a handout so they can try tie dye at home.

Instuctor: Marcia Casey

Skill Level:  Beginner or above

minimum  4 - maximum 10

Supplies Needed:    

  • 3 yards 100% cotton fabric that has been preshrunk.  (No blended fabrics because it won’t dye properly.) 
  • Sturdy rubber gloves (dishwashing gloves)  
  • apron
  • 1 gallon zip lock bags
