Instuctor: Theresa Grillo Laird

Theresa creates oil paintings that represent the intimate and emotional bond she has with her natural surroundings. She has exhibited with both the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society, and her paintings have appeared in Plein Air Magazine's Portfolio and Postcards From the Road features. Her work hangs in private and corporate collections including the Permanent Art Collection of the Federal Reserve Board Bank in New Orleans. Her coastal works have been the subject of two solo exhibitions. Theresa teaches workshops and private classes and is an adjunct instructor for the Continuing Education program at Pensacola State College.

Skill Level:  Beginner or above

Max number of students: 8 

Supplies for workshop:  Students to supply

List of the supplies needed for the class:

Sketch book, 3-5 small panels (5x7 or 6x8) for practice value studies, or a 9x12 pad of canvas sheets. 2-4 larger panels 8x10 -11x14.

Paints- I teach in oils but acrylics are Ok if you are used to using them. Bring the colors you are used to using or try this palette

Ultramarine Blue

Cobalt Blue

Cadmium yellow light

Yellow Ochre

Permanent red (Rembrandt), cadmium red light or medium, or venetian red

Permanent Magenta (Windsor and Newton)

Transparent Red Oxide

An easel suitable for working outside, small assortment of long handled brushes, a container for odorless mineral spirits, odorless mineral spirits, Paper towels, small garbage bags. Other items for comfort: a hat, sunblock, bugspray.
