Flowers highlight the beauty that is present in the world. One way of maintaining that beauty is by immortalizing it through art. Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986) once said, "A flower is relatively small. Still in a way, nobody sees a flower, so I said to myself-I'll paint it big." She used many flower motifs and designs in her work, but many of them were merely a springboard for her, calling her to simplify the forms and paint them larger than life. In this workshop we will see a flower in its natural state and learn to creatively transform its beauty onto an 18 x 24” canvas. Mel will guide you every step of the way as your flowers become “acrylics in bloom”, their beauty radiating from the canvas under your paintbrush! No experience necessary. All levels welcome! Note: Please bring a paint shirt, a snack and beverage as we will work through lunch.
